Frequently asked questions
Which background colors can I make transparent?
Blue, green, and red are supported. Choose a color or “Automatic” under Background Transparency. Select “Original” to watch without removing the background.
What if the background remains or the edges look jagged?
Choose the matching color, then adjust “Color Range” and “Edge Blur” a little at a time. Widen the range if the background remains, or narrow it if the subject disappears too. Use “Reset” to return to the default adjustments.
How do I leave Video Only mode?
Double-click the video to return to the player. You can still drag it to move it in Video Only mode. Right-click for playback, mute, background transparency, and other controls.
How do I play a folder of videos continuously?
Choose the folder with “Open…” and set Playback Order to “In Order” or “Random”. Under Repeat, choose whether to repeat the whole folder or one video.
How do I loop part of a video?
At the start you want, choose “Set Start Here”. Move forward to the end, choose “Set End Here”, then select “Repeat Segment”. The end must be after the start.
What if a video will not open or play?
Supported extensions are .mov, .qt, .mp4, and .m4v, but playback also depends on the codec and the file’s condition. Check its location and select it again. For cloud-stored videos, check that the file has downloaded to your Mac.
Does this change the original video file?
No. The background is transparent only when displayed in FloatScene. The original video is not edited or overwritten.
How do I report a problem?
Tell us the app and macOS versions, what went wrong, the steps to reproduce it, the video extension, background transparency settings, and any message shown. Before attaching a video, check whether a short sample can reproduce the issue.
